The first artist to successful blend country and pop music, Eddy Arnold was a pioneer of “the Nashville Sound.” He registered 37 pop hits and nearly 150 country hits, holding the No. 1 position on the country charts for all but two weeks in 1948. His first recording session in Nashville was the first in the city since 1928, laying the groundwork for Nashville to become the recording mecca of country music. Arnold was elected into the Country Music Hall of Fame in 1966 and became the first Entertainer of the Year at the CMA Awards show.
